The participants included representatives of four science centers : EXPERYMENT Science Center in Gdynia, Poland, Agóra Science Center in Debrecen, Hungary, VIDA! Science Center in Brno, Czech Republic and NOESIS Science Center and Technology Museum in Thessaloniki, Greece. Each partner presented educational activities which take place in their science centers. The discussion involved all crucial aspects of the project and the upcoming steps. The project knowledge was summarized by quizzes conducted through Kahoot and Quizizz platforms. The participants took part in a tour of Experiment Science Center. The event was filled with discussions and exchange of information.
During three intense days, 40 educators and teachers from Poland, Czech Republic, Hungary and Greece took part in workshops and meetings, during which they had an opportunity to gain knowledge and exchange experiences. The first day of the study visit was spent on the group integration while getting to know the creation of city games. The participants were invited to the workshops designed for youth: first named Kryptonim EXPERYMENT with the elements of escape room game, second named AC/DC Tesla vs. Edison with the elements of storytelling. The second day was dedicated to a game named Time Capsule, which took place at the science center’s exhibition. The participants, teachers and educators, had an opportunity to get to know Action Track, a platform on which the game was built. During the workshop which focused on creating personas, the participants were able to discuss problems and needs of youth. It was an opportunity to collectively come up with solutions on how to motivate youngsters to develop their scientific interests. The third day was fully scheduled for trainings on how to create an educational video. The participants were taught the essential aspects of creating videos and trained how to use free applications for image and sound editing. After creating the scripts, the group recorded the videos at the exhibition space. After a couple of hours, taking advantage of the selected interactive stations of the exhibition, the group created five unique educational videos. The second study visit for the participants of Science Inspired took place at the beginning of May 2019. Teachers and educators from the science centers in Czech Republic, Greece, Poland and Hungary got together in VIDA! Science Center in Brno, Czech Republic for a three day visit to participate in workshops, exchange of experiences and learning from each other. Each day was filled with educational activities, which were designed to inspire, broaden the knowledge and encourage further action. The eventful and inspirational schedule included a game based at the exhibition space, science shows, workshops on how to host a science show, workshops with the elements of escape room game and other educational activities. The main goal of the study visit was to create educational videos. The participants, divided into groups, prepared scripts, recorded and edited films, which can be later used in their daily work as educational tools.
Next study visit took place in June 2019 in AGÓRA Science Center in Debrecen, Hungary. Teachers and educators from four countries visited the science center together discovering the most interesting pieces of the exhibition. AGÓRA specializes in using new technologies such as VR stands, holograms, optical illusions. The participants took part in several educational quizzes, learnt about AGÓRA’s workshops on renewable energy and recycling. The study visit continued with a game at the exhibition, which was based on solving a mistery of a stolen piece of art. The participants took part in workshops on robotics which was concluded by a fight of robots. Moreover, a group of teachers and educators had an opportunity to visit one of Hungarian schools of art. In the end, as during previous visits, the participants created educational videos.
In July 2019 teachers and educators from partner countries met for the last study visit in NOESIS Science Center and Technology Museum in Thessaloniki, Greece. The hosts presented inspirational ways of using popular games as exciting educational tools. During workshops a science taboo was created and was played afterwards by the participants. The next activity was a do-it-yourself workshop during which scribbling machines were created. The most exciting part of the program was the use of drones, which were presented as a great educational tool for maths, physics or programming. Drones were programmed to get through obstacles, make a flip, record aerial videos. The participants were also involved in a game named „how to decode the code” which was based on mathematical and programming riddles. Last day of the visit, as usual, was dedicated to creating educational videos. The created educational tools were related to the topics of the history of a wheel and a car, the use of thermal camera, the force of attraction and sound as well as answering a question why brain is stronger than the muscles.
The representatives of all partnering science centers of the project got together at AGÓRA Science Center in Debrecen to discuss the up to date activities and set the upcoming steps of project implementation. Each partner had the time to summarize their activities, sharing good practices, success stories as well as challenges during project implementation. The activities planned for upcoming months were discussed, namely working on the products of the project, cooperation with youth and evaluation measures.
